Minor League Cricket 2025: Everything You Need to Know Before The First Ball

The wait is over as the first ball of the 2025 Minor League Cricket (MiLC) Season will be bowled on August 28, 2025 when Baltimore Royals take on Orlando Galaxy at Church Street Park in Morrisville, NC.
As cricket continues its unprecedented rise in the US, MiLC is leading the way by building local teams, developing players, and bringing exciting cricket to communities across the country.
This year, 26 teams will compete across multiple venues with young, domestic players rubbing shoulders with Major League superstars to bring exciting competitive cricket to its US audience. Whether you’re a longtime fan or just curious, here’s what you need to know before the season starts.

MiLC: The Backbone Of U.S. Cricket Development
MiLC is the main stepping stone for players aiming to reach Major League Cricket (MLC), the premier professional league in the US. MiLC has been key in growing cricket domestically by providing opportunities for players to compete at a high level and communities a way to connect with the sport.
The league’s 26 teams are split between the Atlantic and Pacific Conferences that comprise two divisions each, competing in a fast-paced, competitive format. Beyond the games, MiLC focuses on youth development and growing cricket’s footprint across the country.

How Are Teams Structured
Each squad features a maximum of 18 players, built through a regional draft and a mix of experienced players, local talent and youth prospects including under-21 and under-19 requirements, up to four marquee retentions, international and domestic wildcard picks, and in-season free agent signings. This system balances strong competition with a focus on developing the next generation of American cricket stars.
